Our Roots: From Gravel Roads to Greased Knuckles

Tread didn’t start as a business plan — it started in a home garage in rural Taranaki, where two brothers with a jack and a compressor helped their neighbours fix flats between milking shifts. Over time, word spread: they were quick, honest, and didn’t charge you for the air. That’s how Tread was born — not from capital, but from community. We’ve grown since then — new bays, better tools, digital bookings — but our spirit hasn’t changed. We’re still locals serving locals. Still working with our hands, not hiding behind desks. Still believing that the best kind of business is the one that earns its reputation the hard way — one wheel at a time.

Our first workshop

“Tread is the only place I go now. They fixed a wobble three other shops couldn’t find. Turns out it was a bent rim. Sorted it in a day.” — Brent C., Ford Ranger

Behind the scenes

“Came in for one tyre. Left with all four swapped and the best road feel I’ve had in years. They even topped off my washer fluid.” — Lana W., Toyota Corolla

Live streaming

“We run 14 vehicles. Tread handles our fleet like it’s their own. Efficient, detailed, and they never miss a rotation. Couldn’t run our routes without them.” — Miles J., Courier Company Owner

What We Stand For: No Gimmicks. Just Grit.

In an age of automated scripts and overpriced franchises, Tread stays fiercely independent. We don’t believe in “good enough.” We believe in getting it right, even when no one’s looking. Every customer matters. Every tyre matters. And every bolt we tighten is a promise. We don't upsell, we don't overspeak, and we don’t hand you jargon instead of answers. Our customers know us by name — and we know their cars by sound. That’s how we like it. That’s how we’ll keep it.
